Nice sentiment, but I would turn it around. I am against religion because it teaches us that we already fully understand the world. Think of the antiempiricism of Plato, the true father of orthodox Christianity. Actually, we humans will only be able to understand the world as far as that understanding is useful to us. We will never attain a “God’s-eye view” of anything because our understanding is finite. This isn’t to say that we should be satisfied with what we already know, it’s just that humans have so many limitations, sensory and temporal to name just two, that certain things will never reveal themselves to us. Iin fact, the desire to attain a “God’s-eye view” shows that our thinking is conditioned by religion. Perhaps there ultimately is no such thing as a “God’s-eye view,” and this concept is merely a product of the delusional thinking of Platonists and other religious systems that strive to create models of how the universe functions. When we speculate about things that cannot be tested, we risk creating new orthodoxies.
